Completed - June 10, Thursday.I am trying to paint an oil painting with subject matter that comes from a place in my heart I had tried to keep under wraps. Why? Because it is sad and sore, battered, bruised and pierced; who wants to see that? But, as an artist I know that contrasting blacks with lights makes the lights brighter.
Looking at the black is hard and cruel. It reminds me of seeing a puppy that has been beaten and cornered and beaten some more. Survivors of abuse understand. Others try to with pained looks on their faces.
In the black and also the light parts of the painting, I want to paint out of my heart. I have light and life now, I have some healing. I want to paint out of that place. That is where the passion seems to be.
I am not ready to show the oil yet, but I did some more layers on the tulips...slowest tulip painting I have done, but I don't want it to be muddy. So, perseverance and patience.
