This is a painting I started in Vinci, Italia. I worked on the sky tonight.
It was a long day at work today; good, but long. My students and their 5th grade buddies are packing shoe box gifts with the Operation Christmas Child program tomorrow. After school today, I prepared for different stations for the children as they pack, write letters and pray. Then, I thought I might want to pack a few boxes as well. Food shopping and shoe box gift contents gathering made for a really extra long day.
I bought two bunches of sunflowers (buy one, get one free). Sunflowers make me smile. They are so cheery, and they draw out from me fond memories of Vinci, Italia. In Vinci, I saw fields and fields of yellow, lifted sunflower faces basking in the warm Italian sky. The same sky Leonardo saw! Thousands upon thousands of sunflowers without a care in the world, except to follow the sun. Wouldn't that be great if I could be without a care in the world, except to follow the Son?
I am too tired to paint sunflowers tonight, but hopefully I will later this week. So, off I go as the 365 day challence continues. I am continuing on the still life of last night. By the way, I have thought of giving up.
Marcia, Please don't give up. Your inspirational thoughts and paintings are drawing me nearer to our Lord. I need your blog right now. Thank you for helping me think more about my life right now. God is blessing me through you. Jacky
